Coordination with State and Local Governments

As the development of the Scottish Trek of North Carolina moves forward, the Cape Fear Scottish

Immigration Memorial Fund and the Scottish Society of Wilmington will continue their efforts to:

  •  Work closely with the North Carolina Dept. of Cultural and Natural Resources

  • Work with local governments to develop and implement memorials and other historical markers

  • Work with civic organizations to promote commercial and educational benefits

  • Involve the local as well as state-wide Scottish Societies

  • Support educational opportunities in schools

While developing the Cape Fear Scottish Immigration Memorial and the Scottish Trek concepts, the SSOW has engaged and received initial encouragement from the NC Dept of Cultural and Natural Resources, the City of Wilmington, and New Hanover County.
