Lowland Scots and Scots-Irish

  • The site being developed in Wilmington is principally dedicated to the Highland Scots that immigrated and settled in the region

  •  Lowland Scots and Scots-Irish also played a pivotal role in the development of the region

  •  Lowland Scots and Scots-Irish, however, were much more prevalent in the Western and Piedmont areas of North Carolina

  •  The Great Wagon Road from Philadelphia, Westward and eventually Southward through the Shenandoah Valley was a principal route of migration into this region

  • The North Carolina Scottish Trek will actively address and promote their contributions to North Carolina history.
